About Abacus

Abacus Wealth Tech is redefining how wealth is monitored and managed. We track billions in assets across private clients, family offices, and registered investment advisors — combining institutional-grade infrastructure with a true white-glove service layer.

Our platform handles real institutional money. The engineering bar is high. The work is consequential.

The Role

We are hiring Junior Software Developers to join the Abacus engineering team. You will work alongside senior engineers, our CTO, and our lead developer to build the systems that power how the world's most sophisticated wealth holders see and understand their assets.

This is a real engineering role with real ownership. You will ship code that touches production from your first weeks. You will be mentored, challenged, and trusted.

What You'll Do

  • Build and maintain features across our web application and backend services
  • Integrate with custodians, banks, and third-party data providers
  • Write clean, well-tested, well-documented code
  • Participate in code reviews, architectural discussions, and product planning
  • Debug, refactor, and contribute to the long-term health of the codebase
  • Support the team as we scale infrastructure to handle growing institutional complexity

What We're Looking For

  • A degree in computer science, software engineering, or equivalent practical experience
  • Working proficiency in modern JavaScript/TypeScript and at least one backend language (Node, Python, or similar)
  • Familiarity with React, REST/GraphQL APIs, and relational databases
  • Strong fundamentals — data structures, algorithms, system design at the basics level
  • Curiosity and a hunger to learn. The wealth domain is deep and we will teach you what we know
  • Comfort with cloud infrastructure (AWS preferred) is a plus
  • Comfort with financial data, securities, or fintech systems is a strong plus

What Makes This Special

  • Mentorship from senior engineers building production systems for institutional clients
  • A real engineering culture — code reviews matter, architectural decisions matter, tests matter
  • A small team where your work is visible and your judgment is trusted
  • A platform that operates at the intersection of finance, data, and trust
